March 04, 2008: MCAHIC site redesign

Posted by David Peter

The MCAHIC site underwent a huge redesign, and will, hopefully, now be even easier to update. Here's hoping it works smoothly.

As of June 13, 2008, the site is nearly done.

2005: Wow, the time is flying by.

Holidays have passed and the new year has begun already. The past year was a good one for MCAHIC, and we are looking forward to a great one in 2005. Our popular sign and cued speech classes are going well; we will have additional sessions in the new year. Our program chair, Sue Schwartz, has arranged an exciting program for Feb. 6 with popular speaker Dr. Stephen Epstein in the area of technological developments for the deaf and hard of hearing. Sue is also working on a possible interactive student program with Lisa Agogliati of the Deaf Access Company of the Imagination Stage. Look for this one in future mailings; the kids have a great time with Lisa. We are also exploring the idea of some kind of additional social activity to bring parents together. The camaraderie and support of fellow parents is in many ways the best thing MCAHIC does, and we’d like to encourage more (especially with parents new to our unique experience). In that same light, we are planning on a repeat of our successful art auction. Mark your calendar now for April 16 and plan on spending some of those big tax refunds on a good cause and a good time with us. Our revitalized teen club has gotten off to a terrific start and has a full agenda planned for the spring.

My hat is off to a couple of newcomers who are contributing to the organization. Caitlin Hendel has taken over as our newsletter editor and is doing a fantastic job. It’s great to have a professional journalist on board. Another pro, Debbie Kovalsky, has recently volunteered to get our Website and listserve up and running. We are excited about having these new dynamic communication tools.

Last, I would like to thank all of the MCAHIC board members and volunteers who give so freely of their time and energy. I sincerely appreciate the support you have given to me in my new role. We are always looking for ideas for programs and activities. Please contact a board member or come to a board meeting and share yours with us.
